Heading to Roma (not the Italian one)

My friend Helen, foolishly invited me to her family farm out west in a place called Surat near Roma. I think she wanted to have a good laugh at me working out which end of a cow the milk came out of. On the way I came across this.

And you thought UK caravans were a pain in the arse hhhhhhhh

Lamington National Park

Sub tropical my arse, it was bloody freezing

Big National Park south of Brisbane.

It you look carefully you can see the Von Trapp Family running away from the secret police.

What the plan, Mate?

The plan is to stay in Australia for just over a year. I arrived on the 10th of May, 4 days before my 31st birthday. That's no coincidence, my visa was about to run out. The plan was to stay in Brisbane for the Aussie Winter. Appart from being the home of Cousins, Mark, Kim and Eden, Brissy has 300 days of sunshine a year and has a winter mean temperature of 19C. After working for a bit in Brissy, I plan to head up the coast on the Great White Backpacker trail to North Queensland and back. Once I'm fed up of hanging out with 18 year old eurotrash I will head down to Sydney, get a job again, live by the sea and surf every morning with my faithful sea turtle 'Shelly'. Once it starts to cool down again in May and I'm not allowed to work anymore I will head out to Northern Territory and West Australia. Hopefully I will make it home before Pommieland turns into freezing Winter tundra.

Introduction

G'Day Bruces and Brucettas,

Welcome to my Aussie blog. I have been here four months already so its about time I published something to the world. I hope this doesn't appear as a glorified Christmas letter, (I don't have three children who play the Cello) it is rather that I am lazy and never get around to sending emails to everybody.

Please feel free to post abuse or email me and I will post in for you
